JOB SUMMARY:

The position reports directly to Orbis Internationals' Vice President, Global Fundraising, and works closely with the Orbis Singapore Board of Directors. The incumbent will lead on the development and implementation of the organization's strategy and vision and ensure that Orbis Singapore is able to accomplish its fundraising goals and organizational development programs with the help of his or her small but devoted team.

REPORTS TO: Orbis Internationals' Vice President, Global Fundraising

SUPERVISES: Development Manager, Corporate and individual volunteers, external vendors

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy and planning

  • Develop and deliver long-range fundraising plans and strategies in conjunction with the Orbis Singapore Board and Orbis International staff, which will provide significantly increased financial support for Orbis Singapore.
  • Lead the annual fundraising planning process to produce effective strategies to achieve income targets across the range of revenue streams.
  • In cooperation with the Vice President, Global Fundraising lead the development of any long-term strategy to achieve agreed long term organizational goals.
  • Identify new potential income streams and produce strategies to access these funding streams.

Financial Planning and Budget Management

  • Develop projections and track actual revenue and expenditure for fundraising campaigns. Use this information to continuously improve future projections and effectiveness of future campaigns.
  • Project and control revenue and expenses budgets.

Fundraising

  • Develop annual fundraising plans and revenue goals. Implement a broad range of fundraising activities with the aim to maximize sustainable profitability and generally increase the positive perception of Orbis in Singapore.
  • Make presentations to business groups, associations and High-Net-Worth-Individuals regarding Orbis’s work.
  • Create partnerships with business and solicit donations and sponsorships from companies and High-Net-Worth-Individuals.
  • Plan and execute public relations and brand awareness initiatives aimed at increasing Orbis’s profile in Singapore.

Leadership

  • Provide executive support to the Orbis Singapore Board and ensure full compliance with the local company registry authority, Commissioner of Charities, banking regulations and codes of governance.
  • Play a proactive role in the management of the Orbis Singapore office.

Staff Management

  • Manage, motivate, and inspire the Development Manager and fundraising volunteers to reach and exceed their goals and objectives.
  • Perform, other related duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • University graduate or above, preferably in marketing, business administration or related disciplines.
  • At least 10 years of combined hands-on experience in business development, marketing, public relations, and events management.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
  • A skilful diplomat, able to build and maintain successful relationships with donors, Board members and partners from various cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm, partnership, trust, and respect of Orbis’s external and internal stakeholders on various levels.
  • Experience of utilizing the strength of an organisation’s brand for business development.
  • Proven track record of meeting challenging income targets.

  • Exceptionally convincing and persuasive communication skills, with the ability to present and convey complex ideas and issues clearly and coherently.
  • Ability to advocate and negotiate, both internally and externally.

  • Ability to function with limited staff support.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously, take initiative and make decisions.
