Orbis Singapore to close

March 2023

Orbis Singapore was established in 2013 as an affiliate of Orbis International, with both organizations sharing a common aim to preserve and restore sight globally by strengthening the capacity of eye health institutions in low- and middle-income countries to prevent and treat vision loss.

Since 2013, Orbis Singapore has raised over SGD $2.5M to support Orbis International’s eye care projects in China, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, and Vietnam, as well as Orbis International’s ongoing work around the world. Orbis Singapore has also raised awareness of the vital issue of avoidable blindness and how it can be treated and prevented through Orbis’s work.

Since the start of the COVID pandemic, Orbis Singapore’s ability to reach our fundraising goals with our events and campaigns has been severely impacted. As a result, the Orbis Singapore Board of Directors, in consultation with Orbis International, has made the difficult decision to close the Singapore operation as of 31st March 2023.

Orbis Singapore would like to thank the many individuals, companies, and foundations that have supported the organization’s work over the past 10 years, as well as the directors who have served faithfully on its Board. Their support has helped to transform the lives of children and adults who were at risk of losing their sight in Asia and globally.

Orbis International continues its work to preserve and restore sight around the world.
