Volunteer With Us

Volunteers are at the heart of Orbis’s work.

Shamala Tan

Orbis Volunteer

We had a wonderful experience volunteering at Orbis Singapore’s Charity Gala. I gathered a team of enthusiastic individuals who also wanted to make a positive difference. That evening, I saw our teamwork create a fabulous night with clear goals that helped the event run smoothly and delivered a great experience for guests as well.

Over the years, Orbis has benefited so much from amazing volunteers who’ve helped us at events such as Movie Screening, Orbis Flying Eye Hospital Goodwill Tour, Galas and Community Activities. Whether it is a one-off experience or regular help with administrative work in the office, these have made a huge difference to our small operations team, fundraising and the awareness we are building.

Some of these tasks can be done entirely online with flexible timing and others can be one-off or regularly in the office. These opportunities are available in Singapore.

Besides the roles below, we are also looking for event photographers and collateral designer.

Please note that we do not offer any overseas or medical volunteering opportunities through this platform.

The Orbis Blindfold Luncheon was an incredible event that raises awareness of challenges facing people with visual impairment and what we can do to make their lives better. As a volunteer, I got to not only team up with like-minded individuals who share the vision of transforming lives through blindness prevention, but also experience the difficulties of having a meal without my sight.

CONTENT WRITER (Editing Case stories for Social Media – online)

Who: You are most likely a copywriter or someone who loves telling stories and helping to transform technical information into lively pieces that grab readers’ attention. You may have a background in journalism and public relations. Familiarity with handling social media accounts and interpreting data analytics will be a bonus.

Duration: 2-3 hours a week. More volunteers in the team will help spread the work.

Frequency: Two short articles a week

To-do: Orbis has wonderful case stories all over the world. You will bring these stories to our audience on our social media. We need people to edit and publish them online or prepare them for donors. You will keep yourself updated with social media best practice such as great headers, hashtags and keywords. We will provide materials for you to create posts to make them clear, concise, compelling and well-written.

Impact: Our posts are critical for engaging and updating supporters so that they are well-informed of the work we do, especially stories that transform lives through the prevention and treatment of blindness. You’ll learn about what Orbis does and how we do it. These will help you contribute directly to keeping our donors and volunteers involved and supportive.
