Since 1973, Orbis has been working with governments, medical and healthcare professionals around the world in the fight against avoidable blindness. Our passion for this cause is driven by the fact that 253 million people worldwide are blind or visually impaired – with 55% of them being women and 1.4 million being children. Lancet Global Health expects this figure to triple by 2050 without the necessary treatment and preventive intervention.
This upcoming Orbis Charity Gala is part of our fundraising effort, where we provide an opportunity for foundations, business and individuals to join us in our effort to eradicate blindness from this world.
A child beneficiary and an Orbis-trained doctor from Vietnam will be sharing their amazing stories at the Charity Dinner. The Singapore Airlines has graciously sponsored their return flights to Singapore and we are very grateful to Shangri-la Hotel Singapore for providing their accommodation. The children’s choir from Lighthouse School as well as a jazz band will perform on the evening.
