How we're run

At Orbis, everything we do is guided by our vision to transform lives through the prevention and treatment of blindness. We have high standards for how we achieve this. We know that without you millions of people would be needlessly blind throughout the world.

We really value your contributions, but above all, we value your trust. Here's what we're doing to make sure we earn it.

How we keep our people safe

Here at Orbis we value our people and take the safety and wellbeing of our Orbis family (employees, volunteers, contractors) very seriously. Our safeguarding policies and principles have been put in place to help protect people from harm and ensure all people are treated with respect. Our staff, contractors and volunteers follow a strict ethical code of practice and clear policies to ensure we provide the highest standards of care worldwide.

We've also established an Ethics and Compliance Hotline which provides employees with a confidential and anonymous route to report issues or concerns.

How we use your gifts

Our amazing supporters, volunteers and partners are at the heart of everything we do.

Your support is critical to our existence and we want to openly reassure you that we're working hard to ensure your generous contributions are being used as effectively as possible to deliver high quality eye care and build a lasting eye care legacy in the communities that need it most.

Through our headquarters in New York and our 13 fundraising and program offices around the world, we conducted 63 sight-saving projects in 27 countries in 2018.

We strive for excellence in everything we do - from our world leading volunteers to our state-of-the-art Flying Eye Hospital - and only the best training and practices will be passed on.

In fact, in 2019 alone more than 1,000 medical professionals were trained on board including lectures, workshops and hands on training.
