Partnerships and collaboration

At Orbis we know the path to a better tomorrow is by working together to create a sustainable, prosperous future for all. The power of one may be strong, but the power of many is far stronger. This is why we focus on partnerships and collaboration with partners around the world to prevent and treat blindness.

There are around 189 million people on this planet who are suffering unnecessarily from blindness or poor vision. By working in isolation we would not be able to make even the smallest dent in this shocking statistic. But by building a global network of strategic partnerships we can, together, hope to one day bring an end to avoidable blindness.

Local Partnerships with Hospitals

Partnerships are at the heart of all that we do. We have 66 long-term projects in 18 countries in which we work with partners to identify eyecare problems ranging from a shortage of skilled eye health professionals to a lack of proper equipment and resources. We then work closely with these partners to develop tailored solutions based on current skill sets and capacity to address their needs and problems.

Our partnerships have a long-lasting impact - our programs deliver sustainable solutions that not only improve the eye care services offered at our partners, but also inspire hospital teams, community organisations and many more to continue to deliver quality eye care to their people on their own.

With our network of partners, we train, mentor and inspire local teams so they can save sight in their communities.

Partnerships with Other NGOs and Eye Health Charities

By building long-term relationships based on trust and cooperation, we build the capacity of partners to find appropriate, sustainable solutions. We collaborate with other NGOs on the ground to help implement our vital program work. BRAC, Sightsavers, One Sight, Fred Hollows International, Helen Keller Intentional and CBM International are just some of the organisations we work with to help prevent and treat blindness in Asia.

We are a founding member of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight initiative, a worldwide effort to eliminate avoidable blindness by 2020. We are a member of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness and the G4 Alliance, and maintain official relations with the World Health Organization, to advocate and implement quality eye care for all.

Our partners are all part of the Orbis family. A family which you, our wonderful supporters, are right at the heart of it. None of this would be possible without your continued help.

If you continue to support us, we'll continue to form partnerships that create lasting change for eye health across the globe.
